17. Visit to Tropea on the South West corner of the Italian coast

Well settled in the marina at Vibo Valentia we travelled by train to Tropea as we had heard so much about it. Many of the towns in this area had been badly damaged by the earthquake in 1535 and subsequently been rebuilt. From the harbour to the town there are approximately 200 steps however we only had to walk down from the train station.
Tropea is very bright and bustling full of tourists often hearing english words spoken. Always in such tourist towns english is spoken by all the staff in hotels, restaurants and shops. Food is important in this town as is famous for the spicy sausage used on pizzas.
