25. The old town of Cefalu

We arrived into a picturesque small marina in Cefalu. A dream little bay with a small marina overlooked by a cliff and the town.

The town was bustling with tourists. There were some ot the usual tacky souvenir shops particularly in one street which led into the town but as you walked further into the town towards the cathedral there were chic and expensive shops with well know brands. What is extraordinary in the towns we have visited is the preponderance of shoe shops. I have never seen so many and with the height of fashion with mens shoes up to 280 €. I did buy some shoes but not anything like that! I am always trying to find the perfect fit of shoe. I know my brother Chris was also always looking for the perfect shoe. I think I found it in Cefalu!

Sicily is the home of Ice Cream as Sicilians invented ice cream. Now they have gone one stage further - the Sandwich ice cream. I could not believe my eyes when I saw this quite respectable couple sit down nearby when we were having our aperitif with these monstrous looking ice creams between two pieces of bread. You also needed a big mouth.
