43. SYRACUSE PART 3. THE MARKET

43. SYRACUSE PART 3. THE MARKET

We ventured into the market one very hot lunchtime.

We could have taken a taxi to sight see? Does the fellow on the bicycle come along too?

As would  be expected fish was the most frequent food on display however I note on the right there is some wine for sale, possible to go with the oysters for sale.

This poor swordfish somehow makes me feel sad. Such a unique animal.

This fellow has done well. Not much fish left.

Street food was very popular. You just point at what's on display and they serve you with what you want.

It was delicious!! We returned the next day.

There were all other sorts of foods available particularly fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, meats cooked and uncooked, herbs, and various marinated olives. tomatoes, lentils etc... and crystalline fruit.

We walked further on and came to a large open area which was full of people sitting eating street food mainly tourists. It was very buzzy and slightly chaotic and we were relieved we had chosen where local people eat.

We finally came to this shop stacked with wines, meats, cheeses etc... and again very buzzy. Obviously the place to buy the best.

Lesley spoilt for choice but very difficult to choose

Proud of his shop!

Sicilians will always find a place for conversation

He looked a bit young to buy a drink?
