60. Amalfi coast and a glimpse of Capri 

As the map on Page 59. shows our cruise from Messina up the Italian coast and across the Amalfi peninsula and then across the Tyrrhenian sea to Sardinia.  The weather forecast showed a "the big wind" was coming and we realised we had to get to a well protected marina in Sardinia before it hit. 

Leaving Salerno, which we now know quite well after two visits, we sailed towards the Amalfi peninsula and Capri.

Amalfi is at it's best when viewed from the sea as the pictures show. Zoom in to see the details.

It is August in Italy and the beaches are packed.

The nearest we got to Capri 

Now we sail across the Bay of Naples to Isola di Procida to anchor for the night. This is the town that to me looks like some icing on a cake!
