62. Across to SardinIa and into La Bouche de Bonifacio.

I forgot to mention this rocky islet just past Ponza which we will visit next time.

There is a small beach just below this magnificent rock with boats at anchor.

Heading for Sardinia

One occasionally comes across some unknown floating object in the middle of the sea. In this case it was some childs floating duck blown out to sea and now half way to Sardinia.

Wind drops and sun sets.

The moon and the navigation light shining on the jib

Our first sight of Sardinia was a welcome by a Car ferry which we had to watch carefully - it changed course as it approached us.

Well it looks as if Batman was on board. It seems that most of the car ferries now paint their boats to attract the kids.

How the structure of the rock has changed from the Italian coast. Light beige rock which is shaped by the wind and sea into various interesting shapes

A rock shaped like a hooded monk

More hooded monks

Beautiful Bays in the Maddalena Archipelago

A beautiful small isolated beach

A man and his boat

This rocky headland hides many houses if you zoom in you can see them.

This beautiful house nestling between rocks with green lawns must be the best house on the headland.

We headed for Santa Teresa Gallura to shelter from a coming storm predicting over 50 knots of wind.
We waited out the storm in the marina and when it came it shook the boat from side to side but we were well tied up to the dock. It came with torrential rain, hail and lighting. The rain was so severe that it was coming in through the vents in the doors so I had to hold a towel over the vents to stop the water pouring into the cabin. The storm hit 62 knots or 71 mph of wind. The storm lasted 3 days and we had to stay in the marina for 4 days before we set sail for Corsica.
